Fun in the Sun

It has been a busy 3 weeks—where has the time gone? We made it to NJ without any problems on May 9 and since then have been pretty busy. Here are some highlights.

Our granddaughter, Jillian, spent a night with us in the motorhome for her 9th birthday. We had loads of fun. She and Bob played chess with her birthday present. Story Chess comes with a chess board and a story book with tales about each chess piece and why they move the way they do. She just loved it and picked up on the moves right away.

Jillian had wanted me to sew her a phoenix costume (Grandma, phoenixes are my favorite mythical creature!) so I made her a set of wings, and she loved them.
Even her birthday cake had a phoenix on it.

The local weavers guild had a rigid heddle weave-in at the home of one of its members and I was so excited to attend and visit my friends. We had a blast catching up.

This Saturday I’ll be attending the general meeting and will see more of my friends and will make new ones, too I’m sure. These are always fun gatherings.

Bob and I went to the Pitman Craft Fair the following week. Here we had stopped at the booth of my very talented daughter in law, who is an amazing watercolor artist.

Unfortunately the day was brutally hot which made it so uncomfortable to walk around. This craft fair has gotten so big and now covers multiple streets in town.

I’ve been doing a bit of sewing in my spare time.

This is a little zippered box which I made to hold a teeny tiny electric spinner made by Dreaming Robots. It’s called an Electric Eel Wheel, hence the eel fabric—isn’t it fun? I’ve ordered one but won’t actually get it until October as it is still in pre-production phase.

We have been having fun hanging out with family, of course. Last week Catherine met up with Bob and me, and we went to a local winery. On Memorial Day weekend we went out to eat and then saw the new Top Gun movie with Kristen and Jason. We loved the movie and heartily recommend it. The next day the whole family met up at a local brewery/coffee house for some refreshments.

While the little ones enjoyed a hot chocolate, the adults played a board game.

I’ll try and post updates a little sooner next time.
