Last Days in Tucson

Our last couple of days here in Tucson have flown by. On Thursday evening we finally made it to the local mercado (marketplace) to check it out.
Here we saw vegetables and fruits, herbs, soaps and oils, honey, and a band who played for us. One could enjoy the music while tasting local baked goods. Fun!

Later in the evening we visited El Charro, the oldest Mexican restaurant in the country.
El Charro has an open-air courtyard where heaters keep off the evening chill. Mik and Retha's friend, Teddy, joined us for a delightful meal and some pitchers of Margheritas.
On Friday we spent much of the day with Retha and Mike, trying to soak up as much of their company as we could before we leave. We lunched at Applebee's, then had dinner at Pionic Pizza where you can build your own pizza, calzone, or salads for $7.99. We were surprised to find out that there's only one Pionic; surely it will become a franchise one day.

After a tearful goodbye this morning to Retha and Mike, we were on our way to Yuma. It has been a very good month.

  3. Sounds like you had a great time in Tucson. We have not been in Yuma except for a couple of shorts visits as vendors so looking forward to rad about your adventures there, By the way, they have a nice Elks lodge and serve a good dinner on the weekend. If I remember correctly they serve lunch daily too. Ron
