Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum

I have had the Aviation Museum on my list of places to take grandkids since we started coming to Cape May for vacations, seven years ago. It is located (despite its name) not in Wildwood but in Rio Grande, NJ, not far from our campground.  Admission for adults was $12. Seniors $11, and children cost $10 to get in.
The museum is in a large airplane hangar (historic Hangar #1) at the Wildwood Naval Air Station, and features airplanes from the 1940's  through 9-11, an air traffic control tower, interactive displays, flight simulator games, and more. Rob especially enjoyed sitting in various planes and helicopters and being able to handle the controls.

You can tell by the smiles on his face how much Rob enjoyed it, and Bob and I did, too! A very well done display. The 9-11 exhibit told of the call that went out for all boats in the New York Harbor to help with the relief effort on that fateful day. Many civilian boaters helped evacuate people off the island or provided food and drinks to rescue personnel.
Rob was happy--he got to swim this morning with me, and this afternoon with his Pop.
